Walnut Oil

· virgin ·
100 ml

In accordance with long-standing tradition, our walnuts are harvested and dried without mechanical aids, before they are carefully cold pressed.

Usually, walnut trees are cultivated in newly laid out, artificially composed plantations. However, the walnuts we use grow on old trees, planted in Moldova already during the 1960s. These old and endemic walnut varieties possess an especially intense aroma.

Walnut oil is a classic in French cuisine. This elegant oil lends the certain something even to simple dishes. Its creamy and soft taste is shown to its fullest advantage in cold cuisine, for example when it is used for seasoning dressings and potato salads. It becomes a real delicacy in combination with crisp lamb’s lettuce. Warm dishes like fish or root vegetables are refined if sprinkled with walnut oil right before serving.

Virgin walnut oil should not be heated, in order to preserve – aside from its magnificent flavor – the delicate essential omega 3 fatty acids it contains in high quantities.
