Camelina Oil

· Virgin ·
250 ml

Camelina sativa – also known as false flax, gold-of-pleasure, or in France as »Sésam d’Allemagne« – has already been in use among the Celts for the production of culinary oil. After having almost fallen into oblivion by the end of the 19th century, the plant has been experiencing a revival in recent years, mostly owing to its high proportion of alpha-Linolenic acid, an omega 3 essential fatty acid.

As its byname »false flax« already gives away: Camelina is not related to common flax (Linum usitatissimum), from which flaxseed oil is won. Golden-yellow camelina oil has a pleasant taste of fresh vegetables and is an excellent source of precious polyunsaturated fatty acids.

The seeds we use for the production of our Camelina Oil are partly from three cooperatives from the regions Burgundy, Normandy, and Poitou-Charentes. These three belong to the French cooperative »Ensemble pour plus de sens« (Together for more sense).
